A little bit of Ebay succees

So as you may know or not or even not care I recently put up a few of my extra car parts on Ebay. Well only one of them sold, the center console parts. They went for a whooping £34.40, I know I couldn't believe it ether I still can't. I posted them off today so as I wave bye-bye to my old parts the hunt for new car parts has begun. I am thinking new spark plugs or possibly the bits I will need to fit a new exhaust. I may even just buy stickers with it, you know the funny ones. Ether way the money went in my paypal account so that means I will probably spend it on Ebay.

One of the biggest things I have seen that has tempted me, 99p no reserve cars. Seriously there are cars on Ebay for that price it is hard not to put in a cheeky little bid but then what do I do if I win it? I will be killed if I buy a second project car. I nearly got skinned alive with this one but if I do it again it will be the end of me. So the Ebay search continues, I have about £40 to spend now I shall see what I can get with it. What your best Ebay Bargain? Drop us a comment and let me know.

Powerflow

As the modification on Winston are nearly coming to completion I have now began to start buying some performance parts to make him a little bit more efficient. I picked up this Power flow back box form ebay for £18 which was a absolute bargain. I was after a twin carb but unfortunately do to my lack of funds I missed out on that one.

So my list of things that Winston needs doing is starting to grow, he need the paint work touching up, the old splitter putting back on the front, now I need to fit this back box. I am also looking in to replacing the spark plugs and maybe be looking a port matching the engine but port matching seems like quite a large job I might not be able to do it myself but we shall see.

Parts Sale

There comes a time in any build that you do, when you realize that you have spent up and your project funds have run completely dry. It is at this point you decide it is a good idea to try and sell those parts that you have been hording, thinking I will need these if I even decide to do another project car.

The reality being that you will not need a full set of mk2 golf seats, nor will you need that extra air filter that is not for your car. What about the center console parts I imagine I hear you cry, nah. You wont. Hmm maybe I should keep the extra full set of suspension I have or not.

If you follow the links they will send you straight to my Ebay sale pages, that's if your interested if not I wouldn't bother looking ether.

Gas 2.0

Alternative fuel sources
As I would like to class myself a modifier cars, I like to be different and build cars that are a extension of me and who I would like to be. So I often find myself looking for something new or different to add to my poor old Winston. One of the biggest things you could ever change about a car is the fuel it runs on, I have been curious about having an LPG car but I don't want a canister of LPG in my boot. Admittedly it scares the shit out of me having to drive round with a pressurized canister taking up most of my boot. What if it goes pop? Or if I get involved in a bump and I go boom?

So it is not for, I'll pretend that I heard you cry 'what about electric cars?'. Well if you have an electric I think you are just lying to yourself and wife and possible the world. Because it is fossil fuels that are used to produce the majority of electricity so you are still doing damage to the environment and you don't even get to drive fast. So to that I say Pffft.

Anyway back to my original point, to keep up to date with potential new mods I have been reading Gas 2.0 which has everything you possible need to know about the frontier that is alternative fuel, I have not yet found one I think is worth converting to yet but I am still looking, which is the main thing.

Cycleexif

F. Moser Motard
Ok, so this is not technically a car blog but it still has cool content. Cycleexif has some of the coolest bikes I have seen, my current ride is a Raleigh Team Banana road bike for surprise, surprise the 1980s. Which seems to be a fond era for me, even though I am a 90s child. Much like cars, a classic bike not only has style but they hold kind of gravitation pull on my attention. I can't help but look at these bike, I unfortunate do not get to spend enough time on my bike or Winston as I would like. In a dream world I would spend my days build cool cars and awesome bikes but alas, I am not old enough or rich enough to be an eccentric coot just. I will some day and when that day comes, it will be a glorious day indeed. Feel free to share your dreams, I would like to talk to the people that read my blog it would be nice to know I am not just talking to myself.

Jalopnik

Jalopnik is probably the comedian of car blogs, it doesn't take the world of cars too seriously and isn't associated with a specific car type it. If it is funny they will cover it. With headlines like 'The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta launch is epic car porn' why wouldn't you read it?

For me I am a fan of the rat look or hoodrat as is it called by those cool kids, who aren't me. I love the fact that is doesn't take itself seriously as a car scene and it is all about having a laugh. When you start getting in to car modified scenes you soon begin to realize that people getting upperty about what is essentially nothing. People will get angry over the fact your not using OE parts or have decided to paint your car a different brands company. I think a car should be an experisson of your passions and tastes and that people should just appreciate the fact your building a car that you want to drive, it is not for them. This is why I like to read, Jalopnik it is a bit of fun which is what the car scene needs.

Auto blog Green

Nissan Leaf
Just like Autoblog, AutoblogGreen is a produced by the same people. It has fantastic up to date information on energy efficient cars. It is the place to find out which manufacturers are developing electric powered cars and how well they are getting along. As AutoblogGreen say the "obsessively cover the green scene".

I will be honest with you I have little faith in the electric car just yet, I am not sure it has all the benefits that having a fossil fueled car has. Such as, filling it back up in a matter of minutes or being able to use your air conditioning without killing you mpg drastically. My main reason for thinking that buying a electric car now is a dumb idea is that there are very few power points throughout the country for you to refuel at. As wonderful as the idea of a sustainable car is, a false ideal really due to the fact that it is fossil fuels that provide the electricity that they run on but that is another argument. If you can't fill them up at regular intervals your not going to get very far. I think Top Gear demonstrate my point brilliantly. You can make up your own mind but for me it is fossil fuels for now anyway.

Autoblog

VW Scirocco
Range Rover Evoque
Autoblog is one of the best blogs to find out what is currently going on in the world of modern cars. Who is releasing new cars and whether they are good or not. Although I not a massive fan of modern cars, the odd one or two do catch my eye. The thing I hate about modern cars is the useless gadgets that the add in just to help with the sale of the car. Yes having an inbuilt Sat nav is cool and so is having Bluetooth connectivity is a wonderful invention but where is the individuality of the cars? A lot of modern cars are starting to look very similar, take the new VW Scirocco and the latest Range Rover sport for example. They look scarily similar, especially the rear windows, this is why new cars do not excite me as much as old one. Why would I bother looking at car that is just a pastiche of another? Has the motoring world suddenly become like the Conceptual Art world and this little nodds to other cars some kind of insider joke between car designers?

I say bring back the brand individuality I want to see cars that are different with crazy extras like Vinyl window stickers that have people on, instead of the the piss boring "rear tinted windows" for an £300.

But I doubt I can change the world of cars on my, so it is nice to keep up to date with what is going on but I haven't seen any cars that really get me going just yet.

Car Scoop

Car Scoop not only has the information on the latest car releases and car shows but also likes to include the odd video of the idiots that are on the road. Their latest post being the Lamborghini Murcielago Beverly Hills Crash Revisited with Bonus Footage, which is shot by an extreme amateur but that is by the by. The driver, a middle aged man who looks to have been left with a painful reminder of his mid life crisis seems rather upset. It is worth a watch but it is not the greatest crash video out there.

As for the rest of the Car scoop, it is main stream car new there is not much on the cult cars that have been built or any of the modding scenes that I am in to. I can understand why Car scoop gets a lot of traffic to their site but it is not for me it is too main stream for my liking.

Leeds Volkswagen Collective

So last night I made the long trek over to the Fox and Grapes on the A64 towards York to meet up with some guys from the forum that I am on at the moment. From what I can gather Leeds Volkswagen Collective has been going for 2/3 years now and they are quite a active car club. The meet every two weeks on a Thursday at the Fox and Grapes and just have a non alcoholic beverage and a good old chin wag then they all drive home.

I have been once before but there wasn't many people there, but last night there was a fair few of them. Unfortunately I did not manage to get a photo of the most unusual car there. Someone had turned up on a late bay high top which stood nearly 12 feet high, which is unbelievable really. He was telling me that when it gets hit by cross winds you really struggle to keep it from jack knifing. Although not too practical it was still cool.

DubbinDaz had brought has scooby powered T25 or Wedge as I found it was also known as. Then the other cars are Dayv drove his convertible beetle, which looked awesome with the white wall tires. He was tell us that he had found a little bit of rust that after a little bit of poking soon became a rather large hole. But this is all part of owning a classic car. The car in between Winston and Dayv is a polo which was own by Thor and has a excessively bright alarm system that apparently goes off as it pleases but hi I can't say much my security system on Winston is the fact that he doesn't work properly. So when your starting him up you need to know the correct order to pump the pedals and work the ignition at the same time. Genius I know.

There were talks last night about what shows people were going to, so I maybe trying to tagging along with them to a few of them.
