@bonnet tweet

@bonnettweet bonnet tweet
@bonnettweet is my latest hair brained scheme to get a job. The basic idea is that you tweet @bonnettweet and I write it on my bonnet and drive round with your message for the day. It does sound daft but with twitter the major problem with getting new followers is that unless your tweets are re-tweeted only your existing followers can see them. By using bonnet tweet everyone can see them, well the people that I drive past or walk past it when I park up. I only started this at the end of April and then I had to travel to Brussels as I have a placement with MortierBrigade advertising agency and sadly I could not bring Winston with me. I did cost it up but the Eurostar was so much cheaper and easier. Maybe next time. So any way I encourage you to not only follow @bonnettweet but to tweet me and will write your message on my bonnet for the world to see.

A polite notice

Ok, so since I have dropped Winston lower than my grannies nipples I have encountered a few, well less then fun issues. The first and probably most irritating is scrubbing my front wheels when bumping up and down curbs. This can be easily sorted out but just not doing it and if it is unavoidable doing it very slow and taking my time paying attention to the task at hand, kind of how your suppose to make love. The other issue, which doesn't really bug me to much is the fact that I have to drive over speed bumps very slowly, I mean curb crawling speed slow. This is much to annoyance of the massive wankers that sit up my arse and look all frustrated at. Like they actually have somewhere important to be? They should be grateful I am forcing them to give the suspension a break. So anyway in an attempt to reduce this tension I have add this polite notice to my rear window informing them of why I am going so slow.
I doubt it will be much help but at least I had go.

A rather large knob....

Usually I am the first to compliant about tacky mods especially in the interior but for some reason while I was surfing my favorite car parts super store *cough Ebay. I spotted this little gem, admittedly it shouldn't suit the car but with the rat look styling of Winston it seems to work. I was going to go for the traditional rat rod 8 ball gear knob but I felt the dice is some what more neo-classical and suits my personality better. Overtly pretentious but still fucking cool. Let me know your thoughts on the matter, drop me a comment. I have thoroughly enjoyed my recent spam comments.

Slap stickerbombs on it

Well I am a massive fan of the rat look so it only goes to show that I love sticker bombs, I order this little number off of my favorite place of car part, Ebay. To be honest when it arrived, I thought is was too big to fit on Winston but it turns out Mk2 Golfs have massive petrol caps. They look some much smaller once fitted. Anyway fitting this went fairly well, I have a little trouble with the screws and need to remove a little pin from the flap other than that it was easy, for once. I am planing on sticker bombing two of the rear windows but I am not sure how many A4 sheets I will need so while I figure that out the petrol cap will have to do for now.

A new type of badge

Well the first thing I did when I get Winston was break, I mean remove the rear badge but after some time and thought I realized I should have never taken it off. Now that I am leaning towards the rat look scene I felt like it would look good with a sticker VW badge instead of a standard one, I purchased this little number off of, you guessed it Ebay. It is a something a little different but not too different which is why I like it. Winston is starting to come together now so I might actually make it to a show this year.

Fixed the rip

If I hadn't mentioned it before, I had manged to rip my comic book wrap quite soon after I installed it. Which was very distressing at the time, I can tell you. I had literally spent hours on getting the comic books stuck to the door card as well as putting clear coat lacquer on the top of it to make sure it was solid and durable. Unfortunately when I went to grab the handle to shut the door I poke quite a large hole in it. That is by the by, I just hadn't got round to sorting it out yet that was all. So when I had chance the other day I slapped on another piece of comic book and lacquered it up. I seems to blend in quite well I do say so myself.

Finally added the front splitter

Well after spending most of it's life since I got Winston in my garage. I dung out the front splitter from underneath the plethora of shit that I had accumulated on top if. It needed a really good clean and a bit of bumper blackener which I a classic and proven remedey for making your plastic look better than it actually is, for a short period of time anyway. When I took off the front splitter, donkeys ago some the bolts had rusted and broke so I have had to impravise and buying parts for this model of the Mk2 is proving to be difficult, as it turns out the 1.3 Ryder was not the most popular of the Mk2's but it is insurance friendly.

Anyway after some time on my back and front I managed to get it secured and fitted, all I have to do now is hope I don't rip it off on speed bumps or pot holes.

A bit of decoratoration

With the money in my Paypal account burning a metaphorically hole in my pocket I order a Hawaiian Garland to brighten up the interior of Winston, all the back on the outside. It is kind of a homage to the mars red that it once was.  I have seen a few of these on some other dubs and I thought they looked cool. So I copied the idea I know it's not original or new but I like it so if you don't then don't look at it, simple.
